Apple iOS 6 preview: First Look

As expected, Apple uses the WWDC keynote the annual event in San Francisco announced the latest version of their mobile platform IOS. The sixth main building of the OS aims to bring the user experience to the next level with not less than 200 new features, services and UI tweaks.

This amount is great, but then again so is the hope of millions of Apple fans around the world. 6 The fact that IOS will only go official on the stack of three months' more pressure on the recent release of the platform. At the point that Android will probably have a Jelly Bean to chew, while Windows Phone will be released Apollo multi-core friendly.

The IOS upgrade 6 key features including Siri, the whole system up and integration of brand new maps with turn-by-turn voice navigation. Already there are many smaller items such as new achievements in Game Center, the new App store UI and music applications, Safari is enhanced with full-screen mode, better Mail, etc.

Complete changelog will come, but first we'll get compatibility issues out of the way. IOS 6 is compatible with the three latest-generation iPhone (3G, 4 and 4S), iPad 2 and 3 and the fourth-gen iPod Touch. The first iPad is not in the list, so if you're still holding on to the original Apple slate, you may want to upgrade eventually.
A few other restrictions apply, too: iPhone 4S Siri eventually lose its exclusivity, but it will only be shared with third iPad. Turn-by-turn navigation and in Maps Flyover mode can only be used on dual-core iDevices - iPhone 4S, 2 iPad, and iPad 3.

Now let's not waste anymore time and get down to testing. We installed the beta release of the iPhone 4S, so that all the impressions of the OS is based on performance. If you have an old-gen Apple smartphone your mileage may vary.
